A few weeks after your first Invisalign appointment, you'll receive your new aligners. Each set of aligners is designed to be worn for about two weeks before it's replaced with the next set in the series.

There are no wires to irritate your gums, mouth or lips with the Invisalign system. The trays are made of comfortable plastic that make it easy to wear your aligners for the recommended 20 to 22 hours per day. Because your aligners are created from impressions of your mouth, they'll fit perfectly and won't interfere with your ability to speak normally.
Keeping your teeth clean takes longer when you wear metal braces. Scrupulous brushing and flossing is necessary to make sure you eliminate every speck of food. If you don't, you could experience cavities. Because you'll remove your aligner trays to eat and brush and floss, your oral hygiene routine won't change.
You also won't have to make any changes to your diet. Metal brace wearers must avoid hard foods that damage wires and sticky foods that are difficult to remove. Luckily, you won't have to worry about these restrictions when you choose Invisalign.
